The Central Division of the American Choral Directors Association is comprised of around 2300 members in the four states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. With such great cities as Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Columbus, it’s a great place to study choral music and to sing!
Colleges and universities in the Central Division include the University of Illinois, Indiana University, The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Oberlin Conservatory, Millikin University, the University of Cincinnati Conservatory, as well as many other private and public colleges. K-12 school programs in the Division number in the thousands and include many leading programs in the United States. Professional choirs and choirs in places of worship abound as well.
Division conventions are held in even-numbered years, and move geographically around the division, with the most recent conventions being held in Chicago (2006) and in Grand Rapids, Michigan (2008). The next convention is already being planned, for February 2010 in Cincinnati. Convention Chair will be Mary Hopper (
mary.hopper@wheaton.edu) and Program Chair is Scott Dorsey (
dorseysw@muc.edu).
Resound is the primary publication of the Central Division – back issues are available in .pdf form on this web site, as is advertising information. Resound is published three times a year and is sent to all Central Division members as well as ACDA state and division leaders throughout the nation.
